Start your day with a healthy and refreshing Strawberry Orange Sunrise Smoothie.
I’m exhausted! For the past two weeks my husband and I have been hard at work fixing up our new little town home. We want to get everything in order before the baby comes and before he goes back to school. While working fast we’ve been sipping on this Strawberry Orange Sunrise Smoothie.
It’s been great to have him home so much and Carly has sure been in heaven playing with daddy all day. She’s kind of turned into a little daddy’s girl. Her favorite thing to do with him (besides going on the swing) is to have him sit with her at the bottom of the steps while she just jabbers up a storm to him. Seeing them together just melts my heart and makes me so happy. Nick is such a good father and I’m so excited to see him develop a relationship with our second little girl.
Anyway, our home projects have included repainting our kitchen cabinets… from black to white! It took many coats of primer and paint but it looks amazing and so much brighter. We also installed a fan in our bedroom which took us almost two hours to figure out but has felt amazing the last few nights (remember how I’m now 8 months pregnant?).
We also just barely finished painting all our 1970’s plain brown doors white and installed new knobs and hinges. It’s amazing how a layer of paint can really change the look of things and make them look all new and clean. I can’t wait to show you the before and after pictures!
Oh and this smoothie staring you in the face is super yummy. We live off smoothies during the summer time and this one is deliciously refreshing. The yogurt and banana make it creamy and sweet which is just what you want in a smoothie. Perfect for a quick breakfast or snack on these hot days. Enjoy!

I Loved this recipe. Thanks for saying it makes to 16 oz so I just cut the recipe in half but I also added teaspoon of chia seeds and a scoop of protein powder. A great drink for after getting off the treadmill.
I also want to try substituting the ice with almond milk.

Looking at the nutrition facts, it didn’t state a measurement of how much a serving was. For example is it 8 oz per serving?
Melanie says
The nutrition facts are for one 16 ounce serving. The recipe makes two 16 ounce servings total.

This looks really good and I love fast smoothies are. I’ve never tried orange in a smoothie either actually, I’m usually fairly boring and stick to the old faithful banana and berry smoothies!

what can I substitute the orange with? im allergic to them. almost all recipes I find for an extra energy boost or weightloss involves oranges 🙁 but this looks & sounds so good!
Thanks!!
Melanie says
Bummer Ashley! But you could sub it for pineapple. It will a have a little different taste but still so yummy!

What do you mean sneak veggies in, or How would you do that?
Melanie says
Patty, I just add veggies like spinach like I did in my green smoothies. When mixed with the fruit, juice, yogurt… the kids don’t even notice it’s in there.
Jenny says
Is there anything you can substitute the yogurt for? If so how much do you use? I am new at the smoothie making thing!
Melanie says
Jenny, Are you not wanting to consume dairy? Silk and So Delicious have diary free alternative yogurts (they are in the “health foods” aisle, not by the regular yogurt) that taste really good. I’ll be posting a smoothie bowl using it next week. So, those are great replacements. You could swap in sherbet, avocado… anything to help make it creamy but I also like the sweetness the yogurt provides. Or you can just leave it out and add more liquid to get a desired consistency.
