These Chocolate Rose Red Velvet Cupcakes are the only flowers you are going to want this Valentine’s Day!
As a mother you become very aware of words and phrases that you use most often… because you hear your kids imitating. Luckily I don’t swear! From what Carly has been saying (copying) I say “I love it!” a lot.
I’m preparing to potty train (yes, so scary! Please send prayers and good vibes!) Carly by getting her in the habit of sitting on her “princess potty” before and after bed. The other day after her nap we went into the bathroom and she grabbed her potty seat, hugged it, kissed it (eww… but she hasn’t ever gone while on it), and said “I love it!” If only she loved it enough to actually learn to use it! It was adorable though.
Well, speaking of things I love, these cupcakes are on the list! I don’t make red velvet very often, maybe because it depletes my red food coloring supply but this recipe actually doesn’t use as much as some others. The cake has a moist and tender crumb and since I’m a chocoholic I decided to take these babies up a notch by topping them with chocolate cream cheese frosting. Oh yeah, it’s amazing.
When decorating these cupcakes I tried a few different ways of piping on the frosting and adding sprinkles but I just wasn’t diggin it. I decided to go simple with the rose design (like this Raspberry Rose Cake) and it just happens to fit the Valentine’s Day holiday perfectly since roses are “in” right now. Plus, I like how there is an even amount of frosting all over the top of the cupcake. It makes it easier to bite and you get the perfect amount of frosting in each bite. You guys are going to love these Chocolate Rose Red Velvet Cupcakes!
