I know it’s getting cold out but that doesn’t stop me from eating cold things, especially when they’re super yummy. I don’t think it stops others either because I see people standing in line at ice cream shops all winter long. So, if you’re warm enough to eat ice cream, you’re warm enough to eat a healthy and way delicious Berry Spinach Smoothie! It’s a green smoothie in disguise!
Some may be a little weary of drinking a green smoothie but if you’ve tried my Pineapple Spinach Green Smoothie you know that I make them pretty dang good. No crazy ingredients like pollen and dandelion greens. Just simple healthy ingredients that are easy to find and that you probably already have on hand.
All it takes is FIVE ingredients- frozen berries, ripe bananas, spinach, apple juice, and Greek yogurt. I buy a big bag of frozen mixed berries from Costco each month so that’s what we use but really you can use whatever berry combo you want.
Don’t throw away your brown spotted bananas. Make a smoothie with them or freeze them to use in a smoothie later. You can also freeze fresh spinach. Don’t let your produce go to waste!
Greek yogurt is the the best option for smoothies (hello Tropical Strawberry Smoothie!) because it’s packed with protein which makes this great for a post workout snack.
I like to keep a large 32 ounce tub of Non-fat Vanilla Greek Yogurt in my fridge to throw in smoothies but if you want to decrease your sugar intake can use plain.
This smoothie is especially great for kiddos who don’t want to even look at green leafy vegetables. I sometimes call this the “hidden spinach smoothie” because my kids can’t even tell there’s spinach in it since the berries are so dark in color. And ya know what? They can’t even taste that there’s spinach in there!
If you’re in the market for an awesome blender for anything from smoothies to soups to sauces, this Wolf Gourmet Blender is amazing! It has various settings with a timer but you can also just use manual mode. It’s fairly quite and purees a smoothie, with large ice cubes in less than 30 seconds. I didn’t even have to stir to loosen things up!
It’s also nice that it has the measurements on the side. No need to get measuring cups out! I seriously love this blender and I’m sure you’ll see it pop up in more of my recipes in the future. But before you go buy one, enter the GIVEAWAY! Wolf Gourmet is offering one of these blenders to one of my readers and it could be you! Head over to my Instagram page to enter the giveaway!
