It’s getting warm out which means it’s time to pop open that grill and cook up something yummy! Hamburgers and hot dogs are a good classic favorite, but wrap bacon around it and you’ve got something really special.
And what makes bacon wrapped around a delicious beef hot dog even better? I know. How can that even be possible?! But it is, with sweet cooked onions, some spicy jalapenos, and of course mustard.
If you’re looking for the best tasting mustard, Heinz Yellow Mustard is where it’s at! I mean, how could they not have the best when they’ve been around for almost 150 years?! It’s got the perfect blend of spices and vinegar for that desired balance of flavor and tang. Plus it’s made with 100% natural ingredients! Isn’t it amazing how bright of a yellow mustard seeds make this yummy sauce?
I don’t know about you but one thing I hate when using condiments is that you have to shake the heck out of them before squeezing or else you’ll get a nasty watered down first squirt that gets all over the place. Heinz was smart and started packaging their mustard in the brilliant top-down squeeze bottles. No shaking required and you get mustard out with the very first squeeze! It even comes in a small 8 ounce bottle that is just about the cutest thing.
You can find Heinz Yellow Mustard at almost any store but you’ll for sure find it at your local Walmart. And guess where it’s at?! Right under the Ketchup & Mustard sign. Imagine that!
What are you going to top with Heinz Yellow Mustard (besides these hot dogs)???

Sounds awesome, but you might want to add a step to remove the toothpicks before serving or some idiot will try and sue you!
Melanie says
Haha! Good point. I’ll add that. Thanks Jeff!

Melanie says
Jo- I might be cooking all my hot dogs like this now because they were so good! And the jalapenos cooked with the onions is definitely yummy too.
Joe says
We do these but we deep fry them. We call them rippers. we serve them with basic condiments or with chili and cheese. Slaw or kimchi al
so works well.
Melanie says
Joe- I have never had a deep fried hot dog (well, I’ve had a corn dog). I love the name! haha! Chili and cheese on top sounds delish! I’ll have to give that a try.

Growing up in Los Angeles, bacon wrapped hot dogs were our tradition any time we went into downtown. I love this recipe! Even though it is only 10am, I feel like I need to eat a bacon wrapped hot dog now!
Melanie says
Well it’s pretty much like having sausage and bacon so I don’t see why not! haha! And what a great tradition!

Leave it to you to make a hot dog look absolutely amazing! And I’m a total fan of the jalapenos on your dog, they’re the only way to go!
Melanie says
Thank Paige! Yeah, I didn’t ever put jalapenos on my hot dogs before this but I think it’s going to have to be a regular topping.
