New year, new you! Enjoy one of these 4 wholesome Greek Yogurt Bowls that nourishes your body and keeps you feeling full! Yogurt bowls are delicious, pretty, and nutrient dense making them perfect for breakfast or a snack.
If your focus this year is to take better care of your body, I got you. These 4 Greek Yogurt Bowls are a great way to start off your day and/or get you through the afternoon slump.
I have been eating yogurt bowls for a couple years now and it’s seriously my favorite snack. It’s refreshing, filling (packed with protein!), makes my body feel good, and is quick and easy to make (that’s a necessity when you have little ones you have to chase after).
Berries and granola are my go-to toppings because they are so easy to rinse off and toss in. I usually have berries on hand but when we have other fruits around (especially during different seasons), I like to switch things up. (When peach season comes around you might just have two yogurt bowls a day. So dang good!)
Currently, I have been enjoying a yogurt bowl every afternoon as a snack after I put my baby down and start working. It rejuvenates me and it’s kind of a little treat as a reward for getting through the morning with my kids. Ha!
What is the Best Greek Yogurt?
Hands down, FAGE Total Plain. It’s rich, creamy, super delicious. It’s so yummy on its own and great with topping too!
What are the benefits of FAGE Greek Yogurt?
Protein-Rich: For just one 6 oz container of FAGE Total 0% Plain Greek Yogurt, there are 18 grams of protein.
No Added Sugar: The only sugar in this yogurt is naturally occurring from the milk sugar. This makes it versatile so you can use in both savory and sweet dishes. You can even make it into a dip or spread.
Different milk fat percentages: 0%, 2%, and 5%. I prefer the 0% nonfat for eating in yogurt bowls since I’m already adding fat with nuts and nut butter. I use the 2% and 5% in baking (like these Greek Yogurt Blueberry Muffins), cooking (Chicken Tikka Masala), topped on chili, and for feeding to my little kids.
Made with only milk & live active yogurt cultures– No preservatives and Non-GMO Project Verified. Just the good stuff that helps keep your gut healthy!
Good Source of Calcium: FAGE Total 0% has 15% of your daily value. Eating enough calcium is very important for little ones’ growing bones and for women’s bone density.
How to Make Greek Yogurt Bowls:
- Spread your yogurt into the bottom of a bowl. (I like to use a shallow one so I have more room for toppings.)
- Add fruit(s) and nuts, seeds, and/or grains.
- (optional) Drizzle on a sweetener if the fruit and grains don’t provide enough sweetness.
- Enjoy immediately
How to make yogurt bowls in advance:
If you’d like to pack up your bowl to enjoy at work or school, I recommend buying the 7 ounce container FAGE Total 0% Plain Greek Yogurt. Wash, cut up, and pack the fruit in an airtight container and then place the dry topping in a separate airtight container or baggie.
Toppings for Yogurt Bowls:
Greek yogurt is great on its own and also pairs well with a variety of toppings.
To make an epic yogurt bowl, you’ll need 1) fruit and 2) something crunchy like nuts, seeds, or a crunchy grain. Here are some ideas:
- FRUIT: berries, pineapple, bananas, apples, peaches, nectarines, mangoes, kiwi, pomegranate seeds, oranges…
- I recommend using fruit in season. It will be sweeter making it less likely you’ll need to add a sweetener.
- NUTS: Walnuts, almonds, pecans, macadamia nuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, peanuts…
- To make your nuts crunchier and bring out the flavorful, roast them on a baking sheet at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
- Nut butters are great too in yogurt bowls!
- SEEDS: sunflower seeds, chia seeds, hemp seeds, cacao nibs
- GRAINS: Oats, Homemade Granola, grape nuts, cereal…
- SWEETENERS (optional): honey, maple syrup
